Being Trained by Torben Søndergaard: A Journey into Biblical Discipleship

Being trained by Torben Søndergaard was a transformative and eye-opening experience that radically reshaped my understanding of what it means to follow Jesus. Torben, a Danish evangelist and founder of The Last Reformation movement, teaches a form of discipleship rooted in the life and actions of the early church. His training is not based on theological theory or traditional church models but on obedience to the simple commands of Jesus as seen in the New Testament.

The training experience was immersive and intense. From the beginning, Torben emphasized that true discipleship involves action, not just belief. We weren’t only taught the gospel; we were expected to live it. This meant going out into the streets, sharing our faith with strangers, praying for the sick, baptizing new believers, and even casting out demons. These were things I had previously read about in the Bible but never imagined doing myself. Under Torben’s guidance, those scriptures came to life. They became not just stories of the past, but a blueprint for the present. What made the training unique was its rawness and simplicity. Torben stripped away the layers of religious tradition that often complicate Christianity and brought everything back to the words and example of Jesus. He challenged us to remove fear, break through comfort zones, and rely fully on the Holy Spirit. There were no fancy programs or church buildings—just people stepping out in faith, sometimes nervously, but always willing to obey. Through this process, I learned that power and authority come not from a title or position, but from walking in obedience to Christ.

Another powerful aspect of the training was the strong sense of community. We were surrounded by others who were also hungry for a deeper walk with God. We encouraged one another, learned together, and saw miracles happen in everyday places—parks, grocery stores, and city streets. There was a shared understanding that we weren’t called to be spectators, but participants in God’s mission.

Being trained by Torben Søndergaard didn’t just equip me with tools for ministry; it shifted my entire mindset. I began to see that the Christian life was never meant to be passive or confined to a Sunday service. It’s meant to be lived boldly, every day, with a heart full of faith and a willingness to go wherever God leads.

In conclusion, Torben Søndergaard’s training ignited a fire in me to pursue real, biblical discipleship. It was challenging, at times uncomfortable, but deeply rewarding. It showed me that the gospel is not just a message to be preached—it’s a life to be lived.
